Thomas LeBrun began his Martial Arts training in the early 70s, influenced by the late Bruce Lee and boxer Joe Frazier for boxing skill sets. He started formal Martial arts training in 1974, comprised of Judo, Tae-Kwon Do, and Okinawan Kenpo, the latter under Porter Sensei and Sensei Brett Mayfield. His martial arts continued under Sensei Michael DePasquale Jr. and Sr. in Yoshitsune Ju-jitsu. In addition, he added Aikido, Arnis, and Pressure Point applications and continued studies in boxing. As a result, Sensei LeBrun achieved rank in several disciplines.
Sensei LeBrun found his vocation in the Close Protection field. His training transformed into a concentrated study and dedication to unarmed Defensive Arts, non-traditional weapons, and coursework in the personal Security arena. He went on to protect such “A” listers as Bill Gates, Elton John, and Whitney Houston, successfully operating in 45 countries.
Sensei LeBrun, a leading authority in the defensive arts, created “LeBrun’s American Combatives” in 2009, best described as a living system of concepts within Martial studies, bridging the gap between traditional martial arts and real world application. This system was authenticated in 2017 by Grand Master Ron Van Clief and Shidoshi Glen Perry. In 2022 Sensei LeBrun was awarded his 10th dan in Hogoshin-Do, “The Way of the Protector,” within the Chinese Goju system under Grand Master Ron Van Clief and, in addition, inducted into the Ultimate Warrior Class of 2022 and Security Expert of the year 2021 within F.I.M.A.
He is an expert witness in legal cases concerning the use of force issues. He also has a degree in Advanced Studies in the C.P. industry and level 3 certification in Maritime Security for Anti-Piracy Operatives. In addition, he is certified as a Master Anti-Terrorism Specialist through A.T.A.B.
He continues to dedicate much of his time to researching his tradecraft. Sensei LeBrun attained multi-award-winning status with “Hiding in Plain Sight: My Life and Adventures Protecting Celebrities." In addition, he recently achieved #1 International Best Seller status with his new book “Sticks and Stones,” A Cameron Stone action thriller.
